Understanding Diaper Need
Diaper need refers to the lack of a sufficient supply of clean diapers to keep a baby dry, healthy, and comfortable. Diapers are a basic necessity, and yet, they’re out of reach for far too many families.
Diapers are the 4th highest expense for families with young children.

The cost of diapers have risen by 20% in the past 2 years.
Lack of diaper access has three major outcomes on children and families:
Barriers to work and childcare
Close to 60% of families experiencing diaper need report missing an average of four days of work or school each month due to a lack of diapers. Without a sufficient supply, many families can’t send their children to daycare, making it harder to stay employed or pursue education.
Health risks for babies and toddlers
Stretching diaper use or reusing disposable diapers can lead to rashes, infections, and long-term health consequences, especially in infants and toddlers with sensitive skin.
Stress and financial strain for caregivers
Parents often have to cut back on food, utilities, or other basic needs just to afford diapers, leading to chronic stress and difficult trade-offs no family should have to make.
Diaper need isn’t just about supplies. It’s about stability, opportunity, and dignity for families. And it’s a crisis we can solve.
Baby Love exists to do exactly that. Since 2022, our mission has been to ensure every baby in Toronto has access to diapers and the early childhood essentials they need to thrive.
A Model Designed for Impact
Baby Love takes a different approach to solving diaper need. By combining cost-effective manufacturing, in-kind corporate support, and deep partnerships with community organizations, we ensure families receive consistent access to the essentials their babies depend on.
Manufacturing at scale to increase reach
We raise funds to purchase diapers directly from our manufacturing partner, Irving Personal Care, securing the high-quality Royale Premium Diaper at less than retail prices. Bulk production ensures consistent sizing, simplifies operations, and allows us to reliably serve more families each month.
Leveraging in-kind partnerships to extend our impact
Corporate partners supplement our manufactured supply with donations of diapers, wipes, and other early childhood essentials such as books, clothing, and gear. Our warehouse and distribution network is provided in-kind by Access Storage and Atripco, ensuring resources stretch even further.
Partnering with trusted organizations to support families
We distribute diapers through a network of 14 charitable partners across Toronto. These organizations integrate Baby Love diapers into high-touch programs that support parental mental health, strengthen family stability, and help families access the wraparound services they need to thrive.
